OUR VISION AND MISSION

OUR MISSION IS TO MAKE DISCIPLES

Jesus gives the church its great commission.  He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18–20

A disciple is a Christian who demonstrates that Christ is Lord of their lives as they 1) put Christ first in all things, 2) follow Christ’s teachings, 3) bear spiritual fruit, 4) love one another, and 5) make other disciples all to and for the glory of God.

Following Jesus’ command, our vision is to make disciples who exalt, experience and extend Christ.

TO EXALT CHRIST

Trusting in Christ, we experience the power, glory and love of God overcoming the brokenness of this world and our lives.  Our hearts rejoice in the Lord!  We celebrate his promises given in his Word.  We sing his praises with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.  We lift up our hearts and hands in thanksgiving, seeking him who has the power to transform us from death to life.  We commit all of our life as an act of worship in which we live to God’s praise for all he has done for us. “O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.”
– Isaiah 25:1

TO EXPERIENCE CHRIST

God’s desire has always been to dwell with his people.  Because sin separates us from God, Augustine observed, “Our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee (God).”  Restless hearts touched by the Holy Spirit hunger and thirst to experience the presence of their Creator.  Our hearts are transformed by presence of God in their Savior, Jesus Christ.  We experience Christ as he makes himself known through his Word proclaimed and enacted in our worship, study, prayer, fellowship and service.  “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:20b

TO EXTEND CHRIST

The world needs good news.  People are searching for hope, help and healing.  Christ came to extend the kingdom of God by meeting these needs and especially the need for the human soul to be set free from sin.  Christ is the ultimate good news which we joyfully share.  We desire to reach people young and old, single and with families, reaching across demographics in the Greenwood community and around the world, to tell everyone we meet about the love of God in Jesus Christ and to invite them to faith.  “But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth. – Exodus 9:16

We make disciples who exalt, experience and extend Christ through the following ministries: Worship, Christian Education, Outreach, Missions,

and Fellowship.
